Made for the Water: JOLYN Performance Swimwear From SurfTec to Baywatch

Made for movement in pools and open water, JOLYN performance swimwear brings together secure silhouettes, SurfTec fabric, and relaxed styles for time ashore. This feature shares the brand’s technical design story from SurfTec to the red swimsuits created for the forthcoming Baywatch series.

Breathtaking landscapes often invite a closer relationship with the water. That may mean refining a stroke, returning to a favorite surf break, snorkeling above a vibrant seascape, or learning the measured discipline of freediving. JOLYN performance swimwear enters these active settings with designs created for comfort, protection, and freedom of movement.

The collection moves through different parts of a day on the water, from secure swim and surf styles to relaxed pieces worn ashore. This feature explores JOLYN’s technical fabrics, current designs, and forthcoming Baywatch partnership, which brings the brand’s performance perspective to a new interpretation of the famous red swimsuit.

Time spent in and around the ocean also brings an opportunity to care for it. Many coastal communities offer beach cleanups, conservation programs, and locally led ways to get involved. Picking up litter during a walk, safely collecting visible microplastics and other small plastic fragments, and following local guidance around marine habitats can become part of a beautiful day. Wherever the water leads, the goal is simple: enjoy what the natural world offers and leave the shoreline as beautiful as it was found, or a little better. With that spirit in mind, here is a closer look at JOLYN and the collection featured in this guide.

JOLYN – For Active Days in the Water

Born from Southern California lifeguard culture, JOLYN began by rethinking women’s competitive swimwear for athletes who needed suits to remain secure through demanding practices. Adjustable tie backs, drawstring bottoms, reinforced stitching, and high-grade elastic reflect an understanding of what swimmers need once a suit is in motion.

That performance history now extends from lap swimming and water polo to surfing, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and open-water pursuits. It also led to JOLYN being named the swimwear partner for the forthcoming Baywatch series. The brand will co-design and produce the signature red women’s lifeguard suits, bringing its technical background and connection to working lifeguards into one of television’s most recognizable swimwear moments.

Editors’ JOLYN Picks for Swimming, Surfing, and Life Ashore

Our editors tested select styles from JOLYN’s current collection and appreciated the soft feel, secure fit, and freedom of movement. The Moana Long Sleeve Cropped Rashguard offers a high neckline, long sleeves, and UPF 50+ protection for extended time on the water. An Eryn Bikini Top can be worn underneath for additional support, while the Piha Surf Short adds a lined, full-coverage option for swimming, paddling, and ocean activities.

From Swim to Shore

The relaxed Naia Coverup Romper completes the edit with an easy layer for time before and after the water. Many of JOLYN’s surf styles are made with recycled SurfTec, a soft, stretchy fabric with light compression, chlorine resistance, and UPF 50+ protection. JOLYN approaches swimwear as equipment that should feel dependable in the pool and open water, with beautiful colors, prints, and silhouettes that bring individuality to each style. Today, the company says its swimwear is worn by lifeguards on beaches from Los Angeles and Miami to Sydney and Maui.

The JOLYN Baywatch Partnership: Reimagining the Red Lifeguard Swimsuit

JOLYN performance swimwear will have a prominent role in the forthcoming Baywatch series. FOX and Fremantle named the brand the swimwear category partner for the show’s first season, with JOLYN creating three interpretations of its famous red one-piece.

“Lifeguards have always been part of our DNA,” said JOLYN CEO Mondy Herndon. “To bring that heritage to a cultural icon like Baywatch is incredibly exciting.” (Source: JOLYN press release)

The three women’s suits are made with JOLYN’s Foreverever® performance fabric, which is also used in the brand’s training swimwear. JOLYN describes Foreverever® as a compressive, chlorine-resistant fabric developed for frequent swimming and reliable shape retention.

For the men’s boardshorts, JOLYN brought fellow Southern California company Katin into the project. Film production began in March 2026 at Venice Beach and the FOX Studio Lot in Century City. The new cast includes Stephen Amell, Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader. The series is scheduled to debut as part of FOX’s 2026–27 season, with a 2027 release confirmed for Sky and NOW in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The original Baywatch first reached television in 1989 and eventually aired in over 200 countries. David Hasselhoff became synonymous with the series, while Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa, and Yasmine Bleeth were among the stars whose international profiles grew through the show. By reimagining the red one-piece, JOLYN brings its performance design expertise to one of television’s most recognizable costumes.
